The American Action Network has initiated a significant advertising campaign targeting Florida Democrats in Congress. The campaign focuses on their opposition to tax relief measures and support for what the group describes as the largest tax hike in American history.
This effort, which includes broadcasts in Florida, Washington state, and Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, aims to hold Democratic Representatives Jared Moskowitz and Kathy Castor accountable for their votes against the Republican-backed Working Families Tax Cut.
Highlights of the Tax Relief Measures
The advertisements emphasize key provisions of the legislation that reduce taxes on tips and overtime pay while providing relief for Social Security beneficiaries. According to the Treasury Department, 97% of Americans are benefiting from tax cuts this year under the measure.
AAN President Chris Winkelman criticized the Democrats, stating, “Rep. Moskowitz and Rep. Castor voted for the largest tax hike in American history, also denying Floridians tax relief on overtime, tips and Social Security benefits.” He further argued that “Liberal policies are driving up the cost of living, and American Action Network is reminding Floridians that the liberals in Congress chose politics over tax relief for Americans.”
Community Reactions in the Ads
One ad targeting Rep. Moskowitz, who represents Florida’s 23rd District, features residents expressing frustration over rising costs and his vote against tax cuts for seniors. A woman in the ad asks, “Why would he do that?”, with the narrator urging viewers to tell Moskowitz to stop voting for higher taxes.
Another ad focuses on Rep. Castor, representing Florida’s 14th District in the Tampa area. This ad features a local family stating that the congresswoman “turned her back on us” by opposing tax relief on tips, overtime, and child-related credits.
The Broader Context of the Campaign
The American Action Network has spent over $37 million advocating for conservative cost-of-living policies since May 2026. The current ads are part of a broader effort to influence public opinion and hold politicians accountable for their votes on tax-related issues.
The Working Families Tax Cut, advanced by congressional Republicans and signed into law last year, made elements of the 2017 tax reforms permanent. It also added new relief measures to prevent what supporters described as a massive tax increase on working families, small businesses, and seniors.
