The world of racquet sports is expanding in Brevard County with the upcoming opening of Wakit Rakit Titusville, the first padel club in the area. Nestled within the historic La Cita Country Club at 778 Country Club Drive, this new addition is set to revolutionize the local sports scene.

Wakit Rakit, a padel club operator with ambitious plans to become the largest in the United States, is bringing its unique blend of play, connect, get fit, and have fun to Titusville. The club’s mission is to make padel accessible and enjoyable for everyone, from beginners to seasoned players.

Padel: The Fastest-Growing Sport in the World

Padela doubles racquet sport played on an enclosed court about a third the size of a tennis court, is taking the world by storm. With over 35 million players across 130-plus countries, it’s no wonder that the United States has seen a dramatic increase in padel courts, from fewer than 30 in 2026 to over 1,000 by 2026. The sport is expected to debut as an Olympic event in 2032, further cementing its place in the global sports landscape.

What sets padel apart is its accessibility. It takes about ten minutes to learn and a lifetime to master, making it an ideal sport for people of all ages and skill levels. Tennis and pickleball players often find the crossover to padel seamless, thanks to its similar yet unique gameplay.

The New Home of Padel in Brevard County

Wakit Rakit’s two new padel courts join four Har-Tru clay tennis courts and two indoor racquetball courts at La Cita Country Club. This transformation marks a significant shift for the historic club, which is now open to the public, making it Titusville’s premier racquet-sports hub.

The club’s CEO, Ryan Higgins, emphasizes the social aspect of padel. “Padel is a very social sport, and Wakit Rakit leans into that. Socials, beginner nights, Intro to Padel classes, leagues, and lots more mean that locals can come by themselves or in a group and be guaranteed to leave with new friends,” Higgins said. He also hinted at upcoming events, including charity events, singles nights, and family nights.

Health Benefits of Padel

Beyond the social and recreational aspects, padel offers significant health benefits. Research links racket sports to 9.7 additional years of life expectancy and a 47% lower all-cause mortality rate—outperforming running, cycling, and swimming. Andres “Tito” Moreno, Wakit Rakit’s Director of Padel and a U.S. Olympic padel team hopeful, highlights the sport’s appeal to all ages. “Young and old love padel. It’s played on turf, so it’s good for the joints, it’s aerobic and gets your heart rate up, and because of the walls, the points last longer and are more interesting,” Moreno said.

Get Started with Intro to Padel Classes

Space Coast residents don’t have to wait for the grand opening to experience padel. During the soft launch, Wakit Rakit is offering “Intro to Padel” classes. These 90-minute sessions require no prior experience and provide all the necessary equipment. Whether you show up solo or with a friend, the club will pair you up and have you rallying within the first ten minutes. All you need to bring are your sneakers.

Spots are limited, so it’s advisable to book your court time in advance at /Titusville. The court is waiting, and the excitement is building for this new addition to Titusville’s sports scene.
