For Cornish, music is more than just a profession; it’s a spiritual calling. ‘Having that higher purpose, outside of what music can do for me or where I could go or what I can receive, allows me to have that perspective of like, there’s a much deeper purpose in why I’m here. I’m here to serve and not be served,’ he explains. This sense of purpose is evident in his performances, where he connects with audiences on a deeply personal level.
A Unique Musical Voice
Cornish’s debut album as a bandleader, You’re Exaggerating!showcases his unique musical voice. Without any lyrics, the album is intensely personal, translating his experiences and memories into music. ‘Those experiences and those feelings, they’re already inside of me because I’ve lived them. So, I just try to not hinder them from coming out,’ Cornish says, emphasizing his commitment to an honest and pure expression.
His approach to composition is equally organic. Some pieces take just 20 minutes to write, while others are honed over time. ‘I think it’s similar in sentiment of just being open to what I think the moment calls for and what the music needs,’ he explains. This openness allows him to create music that is both authentic and evolving.

Each time Cornish performs, he brings a fresh perspective to his music. ‘Even with my band, I always switch it up because it’s like a new experience we’re all experiencing together,’ he says.
