The Florida Professional Firefighters (FPF) union has thrown its weight behind Senator Ashley moodyunderscoring her unwavering support for the state’s firefighters and paramedics. This endorsement comes as Moody prepares to face voters in the upcoming November election.
The union’s president, Wayne ‘Bernie’ Bernoskapraised Moody’s consistent advocacy for public safety professionals. ‘Senator Ashley Moody has been a steadfast supporter of Florida’s firefighters and paramedics throughout her career in public service,’ Bernoska stated, highlighting Moody’s journey from Florida Attorney General to her current role in the United States Senate.
The Union’s History with Moody
The FPF’s endorsement of Moody is not new. The union previously backed her successful re-election campaign for Florida Attorney General in 2026. Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Moody to the U.S. Senate last year to fill a vacancy, setting the stage for her current bid for a full term.
Moody expressed her gratitude for the union’s support, acknowledging the critical role firefighters play in society. ‘Our firefighters run toward danger so the rest of us can run to safety,’ she said, emphasizing the trust and recognition she feels from the firefighting community. ‘To have their trust is a recognition from a family I am proud to be part of.’
Moody’s Legislative Achievements
The FPF highlighted Moody’s legislative efforts in Washington, particularly her introduction of the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act (S 978). This legislation aims to establish a Federal Housing Administration program to provide mortgage assistance to first responders, including firefighters, and teachers.
Moody’s commitment to first responders extends beyond this legislation. She has consistently advocated for policies that support and protect those who risk their lives to keep communities safe. ‘The men and women who risk their lives to protect others are the real heroes in our communities and they deserve a Senator who fights just as hard for them,’ Moody asserted. ‘I am honored to have their support and be their voice in Washington.’
The FPF’s endorsement underscores Moody’s strong connection with Florida’s public safety professionals and her dedication to their well-being. As the November election approaches, this support from the state’s largest firefighter union is a significant boost to her campaign.
