New Restaurant Openings
This fall, Gabriele Uberti’s Daje Pinsa will open its doors at 7823 S. Orange Ave. in Belle Isle. This restaurant specializes in Roman-style pinsa, a type of pizza made from a unique blend of wheat, rice, soy flour, sourdough starter, and extra virgin olive oil. The dough undergoes a 72-hour fermentation process resulting in a lighter, crispier, and more digestible pizza compared to traditional options.
Not far from Daje Pinsa, the weed-themed chain Stoner’s Pizza Joint has set up shop at 4781 S. Orange Ave., taking over the former Buttercrust Pizza space. This unique eatery is perfect for those looking to satisfy their munchies with a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Pizza lovers will also be excited to hear about the opening of Giovanni’s Pizzeria & Kitchen inside the new Park Maitland Square retail center. This location is part of the ongoing development at the old Buca di Beppo site and will join Giovanni’s other five area locations.
Expanding Favorites and New Flavors
Kai Kai BBQ & Dumplings a beloved fixture at Mills Market, will open a second location later this summer. This new spot will be situated within the Hills City Center in Minneola, which is anchored by Crooked Can Brewing Co. The market will also feature other vendors such as Daniel’s Cheesesteaks, Sir Benji’s Donuts, Empanada & Co., AJ’s Pizza Joint, and This Little Piggy BBQ.
For coffee enthusiasts, Azal Coffee has joined the vibrant Arab coffeehouse scene. Located at 150 Cranes Roost Blvd. in Altamonte Springs, Azal offers a variety of Yemeni, Saudi, and Turkish coffees, as well as teas, fruit drinks, desserts, and pastries. This addition complements other popular coffeehouses in the area, including Haraz, Jabal, Mariam, Riwaa, and Barakah Beans.
Thera Greek Frozen Yogurt has recently opened at 2789 Waterford Lakes Parkway. This new spot features swirls made from scratch using authentic Greek yogurt and kefir, offering a delightful treat for yogurt lovers.
Cultural and Innovative Eateries
Later this year or in early 2027, Paper Kites a Korean pub or pocha, will open in the iconic Hoods Up space at 2400 E. Robinson St. This eatery is brought to life by James Beard-nominated restaurateurs Jason and Sue Chin. In Korean folk culture, flying paper kites was seen as a way to ward off bad luck and invite good fortune, making this a unique and culturally rich addition to Orlando’s dining scene.
Pierogi One specializing in all things Polish, has opened at 8865 Commodity Circle near John Young Parkway and West Sand Lake Road. From schnitzels to żurek to, of course, pierogi, this restaurant offers a taste of Poland in the heart of Orlando.
Upcoming Food Events
Chef Jeremy Ford of Michelin-starred Stubborn Seed will join chef Mike Collantes on Wednesday, July 1, for two distinct dining experiences. The pair will collaborate on an omakase at Soseki, priced at $350, and a tasting menu next door at Sushi Saint, priced at $125. These events will showcase Florida’s seasonal bounty, Japanese technique, and dry-aged fish. Reservations can be made through /soseki.
The annual Bite30 event is in full swing, featuring scores of restaurants offering $38 prix-fixe menus through July 13.
