The warning affects the Withlacoochee River at US 41 Dunnellon. The river has been steadily rising since July and reached flood stage on September 15. The cause of the high water levels is excessive hydrilla growth along a 4.5-mile stretch of the river.
A Flood Warning indicates that flooding is occurring or is imminent. It may result in water covering roads, flooding of low-lying areas, and potential damage to property. The river is expected to remain steady above flood stage at 28.3 feet.
