A Severe Flood Warning is in effect for Walton and Washington Counties, Florida, until 2:00 AM EDT on June 29, 2026. The warning was issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee.
The warning affects the Choctawhatchee River near Bruce (SR 20). Minor flooding is forecast, with the river expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning and crest at 14.8 feet early Thursday afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon.
At 14.0 feet, flooding is expected to impact Big Cedar, Cowford, and Choctawhatchee River Roads in Walton County, as well as low areas along Strickland Road in Washington County. The current stage is 12.7 feet.
For safety, contact emergency services at 911 if needed. Follow guidance from the NWS and local authorities. Exercise caution near riverbanks and avoid walking or driving through flooded areas.
